Eastlake 4, Franklin 2

In a frigid heartstopper, Eastlake staged a come-from-behind victory over Franklin to keep its undefeated record intact.  The game marked Eastlake’s first on its home field this year.  A platoon of pitchers kept Franklin batters swinging and mostly missing.  Matt Garrett was the starting pitcher going 2 innings, ringing in 1 strikeout and 5 ground ball hits leading to outs.  Adam Goetsch pitched the 3rd inning and dialed in 3 strikeouts.  Brandon Eggers took the mound in the 4th, striking out 2 batters in 3 innings before Ryan Focht racked up a save with 2 strikeouts in the 7th inning.

Eastlake bats came alive in the 5th inning as Eastlake was down 2-0.  Adam Hicks hit a double, quickly followed by a double and RBI by Brett Upchurch, who also hit a triple in the 3rd inning.  Ryan Focht, the designated hitter, followed with a double and RBI.  Then Kyle Walther launched a 2 run homer over the left center fence to score the third and fourth runs of the game.
